Which could be a good thing. Director J.J. Abrams has indicated that he is more concerned with putting out a quality sequel than making some randomly decided release deadline.
“I really don’t know, we will see. We are working really hard to try and get that movie made as soon as possible, but we don’t want to rush anything. The worst thing we could possibly do would be to put something into production to make a release date instead of a great movie.”
As for whether or not the movie will be made in 3D (I hope not) J.J. seems to prefer to make it in 2D. However, he is a smart man:
“I’m not yet considering it, but you know, I haven’t gotten any phone call from people in suits. I know what’s good for me.”
Now that Super 8 has been released, J.J. is apparently giving Star Trek 2 his full attention.
