Borderlands Bookstore in San Francisco, CA has been THE place to go to find science fiction and fantasy books for the past 18 years.
Due to the minimum wage increase in San Francisco, voted on by residents of San Francisco, will cause Borderlands to lose money if they stay open. I know that science fiction is a passion of the owner, but paying out of your own pocket to keep a business open is not a viable option. It’s not just the wage increase that caused the store to close. High rents, more online buying as well as digital readers have all added up to make it impossible for Borderlands to stay open.
If you love science fiction (and live in the Bay Area), stop by Borderlands before the end of March to pick up some books.
