Apparently there is a new Star Trek television series in the works. It’s not a definite thing mind you, but there are talks going on. The hope is to pitch it to CBS to reach a much broader audience than it did when it was shown on UPN. It would be nice to see it back on a real network. When Star Trek first aired in 1966 it was on NBC.
David Foster of [1947 Entertainment], along with the late Kevin Severson, developed the idea for the new series back in 2006. According to Foster “The series is set in the post-Voyager era, and is designed to return Star Trek to its original series roots in big and mighty ways.” He also indicated that it will not conflict with any previous series or movies. Since J.J. Abrams Star Trek was an alternate timeline, it will not conflict with that either.
Foster said this of the possible new series: “If evil wore the face of a hero, would you recognize it? If freedom came in the likeness of your oppressors, would you accept it? If you were your own enemy, who would be victorious? ”
Sounds pretty cool to me. I for one would always welcome a new Star Trek series on TV. There is so little sci-fi on TV these days.
